PEERS for Preschoolers is a parent-assisted social skills intervention to teach children between the ages of 4 to 6 years how to make and keep friends. Children are taught play and social skills through a puppet show, followed by games and activities to practice newly learned skills. Carers simultaneously attend separate sessions and are taught how to help their children make and keep friends. Sessions include carer-coached play including mock play dates between members, and feedback from the facilitator on their social coaching. 16 x 90 minute sessions.
Children will learn how to:
- Listen and follow directions
- Ask and use names
- Greet friends
- Share and give turns to friends
- Ask friends to play
- Sustain play through commenting
- Join ongoing game play
- Cool down when upset during play
- Be flexible and co-operative during play
- Be a good sport
- Transition to new play activities
- Ask for help and help friends
- Maintain appropriate body boundaries.

Cost for the group Program of Support will average about $170 per hour including a complete customer experience tailored to your young persons' needs (break down of fee schedule to be provided upon enquiry). As both the child and carer attend groups concurrently, both participants are charged.
